Fair Housing Program Services
The Fair Housing Program helps any person who has been discriminated against in the rental, sale, financing, or appraisal of housing. The state and federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination because of a person’s race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability (mental or physical), or familial status. For Austin residents, additional protections include marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, source of income for veterans or status as a student.
Procedures: Submit an online housing discrimination report here. If you do not have Internet access you may report the discrimination by calling: 512-474-7006, Ext. 105. If calling, you must provide (1) your full name, (2) your phone number and (3) state that you wish to report housing discrimination.
Eligibility: Open to victims of housing discrimination
Fees: No charge.

Tenant / Landlord Program Services
Emergency Mediation services are offered during the period of October 21 - November 1, 2019 for tenants experiencing one of the below listed emergency housing crises.
Eligibility: Emergency Mediation clients must be Travis County residents and not exceed income guidelines.
Fees: No charge.

SAFE Alliance provides safety for individuals and families affected by sexual and domestic violence. SAFE Alliance provides emergency shelter, counseling, affordable child care, among other critical services. City of Austin Code Enforcement
Enforces the standards for rental properties set by the Uniform Housing Code and the Dangerous Building Code. If you have asked your landlord to address the issue and the issue has not been resolved or is getting worse, you may request to schedule an appointment for a Code officer to inspect your residence.
